So running while expecting has proven to be frustrating. Between feeling tired and having to slow down considerably, it's just not the same. Lately I've found myself looking longingly at runners enjoying the crisp fall weather and feeling very envious. Today I went to work early in the morning to set up some experiments and on my way home I drove by a road race I'd been planning on prior to the pregnancy. I had to back out of the race because the course had a time limit that I couldn't realistically complete the race with the pace of running and amount of walking I would have to do. At first I was a little jealous that I wasn't out there, but then I just saw the runners as runners that I could have been running beside. It was a half marathon, I saw they were around the 9 mile mark, and could see the mental battles playing out. So I rolled down my window and cheered the runners on and probably looked a little crazy. I wish I had been out there with them, but I'll be there next year.
