I've been off the radar for some time after having my wisdom teeth removed and the holidays.
While recovering from my oral surgery, the results of my physical came back and my cholesterol was high. Since I'm a healthy weight and exercise, I know it's what I eat. I've always had the mindset that I could indulge since I workout. Not the case.
My diet was restricted during my recovery. It was so cumbersome to try to chew that I found myself eating less and even without working out, I dropped the final 5 pounds of baby weight which I was carrying mostly in my tummy. This was stunning to me since I couldn't accomplish this earlier this year training for a 10K and later a half marathon. The old adage that abs are primarily made in the kitchen rather than the gym slapped me in the face.
Going into 2012 I'm going to work on eating more good stuff (fruits, veggies, and nuts) and less of the junk (cake, cookies, Sonic chili cheese tots) to get my cholesterol under control. I've also been drinking soda like it's water lately, so I need to cut down on that as well.
